Pope Joseph I of Alexandria was the Coptic Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of St. Mark (831 - 849). According to the History of the Patriarchs of Alexandria, conditions finally improved in Ethiopia, allowing Abuna Yohannes to return to that country to administer its church.
