Extraterrestrial Highway is another official name for Nevada State Route 375. The name Extraterrestrial Highway alludes to the top-secret (but much noted in popular culture) Area 51 government base located nearby. Many UFO sightings have been reported by travelers on this road over the years. The town of Rachel is located on the Extraterrestrial Highway, and is home to a UFO research group, a restaurant, and a few shops. Rachel receives tourism all year round thanks to its proximity to Area 51. The Extraterrestrial Highway was officially dedicated on April 18, 1996.
