The Jiet River was a river located on the western border of Surda in southern Alagaësia. The Broddring Empire used it as an invasion route into Surda just prior to The Battle of The Burning Plains, which took place right next to it. It was also the place where Roran and the rest of Carvahall met with Eragon during the battle at the end of Eldest. It was said to look like "the milk of some beast" and reflect many colors. According to Saphira, the air was cooler over the Jiet River than over the land surrounding it. It flows out of Leona Lake by Belatona down through the southern Broddring Empire until it reached Surda. Dauth was located on it.
