Freedman is an agent of the United States Treasury Department who was placed on the assignment of recovering $10 Million which was stolen from the government by a man named Munson. When an inmate named James Ford reveals to Freedman and the Warden that he knows the location of the money, Freedman copies down the information, and the Warden grants James a full pardon of his sentence. It was then that Freedman also informed James that he would receive a reward commission for the information, to which James requested the money be placed in an Albuquerque bank account under the name Clementine Phillips.
