The Ladinian (also known as the Falangian) is a stage of the Middle Triassic epoch. It spans the time between 237 ± 2 Ma and 228 ± 2 Ma (million years ago). The Ladinian was preceded by the Anisian Stage and succeeded by the Carnian Stage of the Late Triassic Period. Many Ladinian and Carnian vertebrates have been discovered in the paleorrota in Brazil: Rhynchosaurs, thecodonts, exaeretodonts, Staurikosaurus, Guaibasaurus, Saturnalia tupiniquim, Sacisaurus, Unaysaurus, and many others. Paleorrota lies within the Santa Maria Formation and the Caturrita Formation.
