A warp field is an asymmetrical field that surrounds a ship causing the space within it to accelerate. It is generated by a ship's warp coils. In 2375, the USS Hudson's plasma injector misfired, destabilizing the ship's warp field. The Hudson would then land on Bakrii for repairs. (TOS short story: "Safe Harbors")
