Joe also had guest appearances in TV shows such as Ripper Street, Hollyoaks and Shameless. Joe had previously held the regular role of Jamie Armstrong in Coronation Street between 1994 and 1997. He took a break from screen acting after leaving Corrie but returned in 2006 when he joined Emmerdale. He is also best known for his other major roles of Rudy Wade in Misfits and Woody in the This Is England film and subsequent TV spin-offs.
