The programme caused a storm of controversy in the printed press with Roman Catholic Cardinal Cormack Murphy-O'Connor accusing it of being "Sacriligious to the point of blasphemy" and the Anglican Archbishop of Canterbury decrying its "Poor understanding of the state of microelectronics during the Roman occupation of Palestine." The CCTV Nativity aired only once, at 3.47 a.m. on 27th July, 2006
