The forest is named after Brean Hotsch who runs a logging operation out of the Loggers' Hut in the northern part of the wood. An ancient leshen, dubbed the Lord of the Wood, that resides in the centre of the forest, has been responsible for the deaths of several loggers in the area. Its presence has also attracted swarms of crows which congregate predominantly around the leshen's totem, and several other clearings in the forest.
