Robert A. Brown is the tenth and current president of Boston University. He previously served as provost at MIT. Brown earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in chemical engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. He also earned his Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota. Brown lives in Brookline with his wife, Dr. Beverly Brown. He is known around the University for being seen walking to work each day. Brown was formally inaugurated as President of Boston University on April 27, 2006 in a ceremony at Agganis Arena. Brown's compensation as of 2006 is $650,000 per year, plus benefits such as housing and health insurance.
