The Symposium of Free Ideas is a yearly conference of writers, philosophers, inventors, theorists, and scientists, first held during the heyday of the Commonwealth. Lawrence Islo was the most vocal proponent of the Symposium, and kept the tradition active after the fall of the Commonwealth. In recent times the Symposium has been suspended several times due to fighting between factions, and most recently because of Lawrence Islo's disappearance.
