The Torrens system is a variant of the title registration system developed in Australia. The advantage is that there are two certificates to each parcel and the original is kept at the land registry. An ownership transfer is merely endorsed on the back of both the original and duplicate. Variations of this system have been adopted in countries such as Thailand, Malaysia and Kenya.
