After the USS Defiant was captured by the crew of the ISS Enterprise, Slar requested to escape the ship aboard a shuttlecraft in exchange for the location of the plasma regulators he had hidden aboard the ship. Despite T'Pol's belief that Slar's terms sounded reasonable, Jonathan Archer, who was not interested in negotiating, told her that the Gorn had "no intention of returning the regulators," adding, "if we give him a shuttle, he'll contact his people and come back here with a warship.
