The Xyon News Agency was founded in 1927 by Brandon Clarke, a Mikaean politician who realized the importance of a national news corporation for Xyon. He received the backing of the federal government of Xyon, which sponsored the formation of XNA as a successor to the Mikaean Broadcasting Network, which primarily covered events in the capital city of Blackstone and the largest city in Xyon, Oxida Nova. XNA grew to dominate the flow of media content in Xyon within a few years, and was officially placed under the overwatch of the government of Xyon.
