The Division of Public Works was a Centauri espionage organisation run from the Development Office under the Ministry of Internal Security and was tasked with gathering intelligence on the Interstellar Alliance. Based on the recommendation of Durla, the Minister of Internal Security, Castig Lione, offered Mariel a job in the Division of Pubic Works. Mariel accepted, and recommended certain other individuals of her acquaintance whom she felt would prove useful to the new division.
