The stormtrooper manual was possibly a manual that was studied by those who were to become stormtroopers of the Galactic Empire. When joining the Academy for Young Imperials to try to learn the truth of what had happened to his sister, Dhara, Zare Leonis considered that his friend Ames Bunkle had become an Imperial drone who was barely able to do more than recite parts of the stormtrooper manual.
