On the 6th of November 2007, the city of Luna Pier held a city-wide election to determine who would take office as Mayor and fill three City Council seats for the community. The incumbent mayor, Todd Deal, was defeated by Mary Liske in the election and Dawn Gramza, Richard Russell, Jr., and Richard Murray, Jr. were elected to the City Council. Russel and Murray were incumbents while Gramza defeated incumbent Darrell Adams. David Hutchinson and David Howe also ran for the City Council.
