Menthiv is a human earth wizard. His name means "son" in the dwarves' language. He is an intense environmentalist, which immediately brings him into conflict with Geuloth, who enjoys destroying life. He imprisons Sverd Shelgr, except for Drajl, because as he is an animal, Menthiv considers him part of nature. Drajl attempts to persuade Menthiv to release his friends, but he is distracted by Menthiv's werecat assistant, Whiskers. They later escape anyway.
