As matter of fact, Kōkyūshū is a mutation from Satoru's natural armour, which he subconsciously controlled to use the excessive chakra, internal as external, to his will and to stay alive. It's suspected that Kōkyūshū may be the reason of Satoru's long-term illness during his childhood.
