The Obsidian Blades was formed by Mukizo, the Ancestral Sword of the Snake Clan, and its matching wakizashi. The daisho became the badge of office of the Obsidian Champion. The tainted blades were taken in custody by Ikoma Ayumu when he killed Hotako and refused to take the post. A new Obsidian Champion ascended when a naga eventually managed to seize the Obsidian Blades.
