The V-220 series was made up of the V-220/V-221/V-222 straight trucks and the V-225 tractor. The straight trucks had maximum GVW ratings of 26-30000 lb. They were powered by the 226-hp V-461 engine. The V-225 Roadliner tractor had a 30000 lb GVW rating and 65000 GCW rating. It was powered by the 257-hp V-549 V8. In 1962 the maximum GVW of the V-222 model was increased to 34000 lb. In 1964 the V-220 series was reduced to a single V-220 model with a GVW rating of 35000 lb and with a choice of the V-461 or V-549 engines. In 1965 the V-461 was replaced by the new 234-hp V-478 and the 285-hp FTV-549 became available for fire engine use.
