The Republican Guard was the name of the armed forces who were charged with keeping the peace within the New Republic. They were partially funded by the governor of their respective planets and systems, and reported to the governor as well. They were utilized in various peacekeeping missions but also for humanitarian aid and relief as a result of natural disasters and the like.
