The 42nd Armoured Regiment is an armoured regiment of the Indian Army Armoured Corps that was raised in January 1981 by Col (later Brigadier) Ranjit Talwar of 18 Cavalry. Prior to the World War II, the regiment existed under different names. Its slogan is "karma shourya vijaya", which means work, valour, victory. It is commanded by an officer of the rank of Colonel. It has in its history some very bright and brave officers, reflecting the high regimental standards, who went on to do well later in their career and lives. The men are very passionate about their regiment and squadrons.
