Gandharvas are male nature spirits that are said to be the husbands of Apsaras. They are said to be part animal, usually a bird or horse. They guard the soma, the ritual drink of the gods, and are said to make music for the gods in their palaces. Gandharvas are also said to act as messengers of the gods. They are said to follow Jikokuten, one of the Four Heavenly Kings.
