Originally when auditioning for Jetman, Toshihide was going to be cast as a villain as he rehearsed lines that belonged to First Captain Chevalier from a Fiveman script. But he did eventually get the role of Black Condor. He was considered for the role of Kouji Segawa, the titular Kamen Rider of the movie Kamen Rider J. (The role would go to fellow Super Sentai actor Yūta Mochizuki (Geki/TyrannoRanger). Yūta also briefly took over for Toshihide to voice Black Condor in Super Sentai World.)
