Christian Hip Hop or Christian Rap is a subgenre of Hip hop music and Contemporary Christian Music that incorporates positive, biblical, Christian messages into rap songs. Some Christian Hip Hop is aimed towards Christian youth, while some is created for the purpose of evangelism. Some Christian rappers see themselves as ministers and preachers, while some act as rappers who are Christian and who deliver positive messages. Much criticism has been directed to Christian Hip Hop, saying that it is not as "raw", "authentic", or "urban" as secular rap, and is very pop-influenced. Christian hip-hoppers such as Pettidee and Lecrae are considered to be active members working to break that stereotype, giving audiences a hard hitting, raw delivery.
