Prior to the Canadian War, modern-day Huron was administered by the United Kingdom as the Province of Upper Canada. Following the dissolution of the UK after the French invasion of the British Isles (the Forty Days' Campaign) in 1815, a majority of Upper Canada, along with Florida, Cuba, and Nova Scotia (also British - and Spanish - possessions in North America) were ceded to the United States as part of the 1815 Treaty of London.
