Rufus is a powerful swordsman, favouring the unique shape and structure of his sword to inflict strong, physical blows to the opponent. He can cunningly adapt his fighting techniques to the current situation. It is due to to this ability that he has been given a large bounty. Due to being a fishman his strength and speed are ten times that of an average human but twice that underwater. He has also shown a strange ability to ride on waves and stand on water as if it were a solid. He can actually skate across water or even sink into it for a surprise attack.
