The Mummy is an upcoming 2012 monster horror film, a remake of the 1932 film The Mummy. It will be the third of several projected Universal Studios remakes of their classic horror films, known collectively as Universal Horror Revival. Matthew Vaughn, known for his films dealing with superheroes Kick Ass and X-Men: First Class, was contracted to direct the remake in early 2011. Michael Fassbender, who worked with Vaughn on X-Men: First Class, will portray the protagonist, with Alan Rickman as Imhotep. The film is expected to released on Halloween 2012.
