Brian Rawlinson (12th November 1931 - 23rd November 2000) appeared on Coronation Street between January and April 1961, February 1963 and in August 1970 as plumber Joe Makinson. He is most famous for his role as Gaff Guernsey in the mid-1950s adventure series The Buccaneers and as Robert Onedin in The Onedin Line. He guest-appeared in most of the Sapphire films adventure serials of the late 1950s and continued to work until the late 1990s, appearing in many television series in a guest-actor capacity. He appeared three times as Cyril Gridley in Last of the Summer Wine.
