Richard Carl Tuerk is a contemporary writer on Oz and L. Frank Baum. His book Oz in Perspective: Magic and Myth in the L. Frank Baum Books was published by McFarland in 2007. In that book, Tuerk traces classical mythic patterns through Baum's development of his Oz mythos. Richard Tuerk is professor of literature and languages at Texas A&M University, Commerce.
