Kon-Tiki was one with a 1950 Oscar award-winning documentary about the Kon-Tikiexpedition of the Norwegian anthropologist Thor Heyerdahl in 1947. The recordings that form the basis for the black-and-white films were made with 16 mm cameras on board the raft by Heyerdahl and his crew members.
