Gottfried was a knight errant in service to the duchy of Toussaint. He gained renown when he killed a giant that was terrorizing peasants. Ever since he was known as The Giantkiller. Decades later, this deed inspired young knight Guillaume to defeat the giant Golyat as he vowed before his love.
