The Imperial sarlacc stabilizer was a massive device constructed by forces of the Galactic Empire during their invasion of Felucia in 2 BBY. The device was built with the purpose of restraining the sarlacc creature that lived in the Ancient Abyss. When the Sith apprentice Starkiller arrived on the planet with the purpose of freeing Senator Bail Organa, he sensed the sarlacc's suffering. Taking pity for the creature, he released it from the chains that held it.
