He defeated Altoona's Thomas Brandt, 7-6, in the finals of the PIAA Class AAA Northwest Regional tournament at Altoona High School. Godwin's record after the regional tournament was 31-2. "I started coaching with my father in the '80s," Brashear Coach Nate Geller said. "He's the hardest-working athlete I've ever been around. With that work ethic and God-given talent, he's a special young man.
