Brian Doyle-Murray (born October 31, 1945, in Chicago, IL) is an American actor. He portrayed Mel Sanger on Seinfeld. Brian starred with his brother and fellow Chicagoan, Bill Murray, in Groundhog Day. His real name is Brian Murray. However, he adds his grandmother’s maiden name, Doyle, to his name so as not to confuse himself with another actor named Brian Murray.
