The Eight Immortals are eight Chinese supernatural beings. By different means, they achieved immortality by a deep connection to the Tao. They are: * He Xiangu * Cao Guojiu * Li Tieguai * Lan Caihe Ho * Lü Dongbin * Han Xiang Zi * Zhang Guo Lao * Zhongli Quan Lan Caihe Ho and He Xiangu, in particular, took an interest in Bladedancer and are acting as her guardians of record. The other Immortals may yet appear in the stories.
