Three Stone River was a well-known play written by Miya Mai. Its about a samurai who believed his wife had an affair with his own brother. He commanded a vassal to throw his bother's name into the Three Sides River that led to the cursed Lake of Sorrows, but the vassal knew the man was innocent, so to avoid the curse he tied the name to three stones. When the samurai made peace with his brother, the vassal was rewarded for his wisdom. Because of this play, the peasants living near the Three Sides River, often referred to it as the Three Stone River instead.
