Maria Ludovica Olaru was born on June 4, 1982 in Falticeni, Romania. Olaru was a member of the 2000 Romanian Olympic team where she won a gold medal in the women's artistic gymnastics team event and a silver in the all-around event. Olaru retired from gymnastics in 2000 and is now an assistant professor at the Faculty of Sports and Physical Education at West University of Timisoara.
