Wands of digging will, when "z"apped, allow the player to quickly clear a path through walls in any of the eight directions. In the ninth direction, "5", it will create a pit in the ground, also digging any graves that may be present on that square. This wand has a range of 7/5/3 for B/U/C respectively. Additional 1 range is added for each 10 character levels. They don't seem to generate gems or stone giants like using a pick axe may do.
