David Rain is the main character of the series. To the Pennykettle dragons, he is known as "The David". In later books, he is able to transform into the polar bear, Ingavar, who is also known as Nanukapik. When he is illumined to the dragon Grockle, they are known as "G'lant", and the dragons of the New Wearle always call David by this name.
