Lessa is awoken at Dawn by a premonition of danger. One stronger than the one ten Turns earlier that had sent her hiding in the watch-wher's lair. She attempts to figure out the source of the premonition, it was not in the confines of Ruath Hold (sic), nor approaching from Tillek, nor in the direction of Fax. She identified the source of danger as the Red Star, and vaguely remembered tales of danger from that source. The scene is set of a conquered, but subtly resisting, land. Lessa returns to her disguise as a kitchen drudge.
