Tawa also wrote Play-a-Sound books featuring Disney Fairies, Mickey Mouse, Winnie the Pooh, The Backyardigans, Chicken Little and Happy Feet. She had been a journalist for the Los Angeles Times for over a decade starting in the 1990s. She is currently editor of the Chicago Botanic Garden member magazine and website.
