Margaret Drinkwater is a candidate being interviewed by Amos Brearly and Henry Wilks for a barmaid position in June 1973. She likes the look of The Woolpack and Amos warms to her, but she is offended when she finds out Amos isn't married and is offering her a live-in position. She leaves threatening to report him to the brewery.
