According to the Galactic Security Decleration of 1,055 BBY, which created the GUSN: “The mission of the Galactic United Systems Navy is to protect the interests and the rights of the Galactic United Systems and it's allies, to move freely in space and sea, and to protect the borders of the Galactic United Systems. It shall also be responsible to maintain, train, and equip combat ready Naval forces for prompt combat and a agile and adaptable military unit capable of winning wars, dettering aggression and maintaining the freedom of space and the seas.”
