The eruption of the Yellowstone supervolcano would not have a direct effect on the region that would become the Veracruz Republic. However, southern Mexico and the Yucatan Peninsula - much like every other part of the globe - would suffer greatly by the indirect effects of the Yellowstone eruption, such as refugees and the lack of food for its population. Hours after the eruption of the Yellowstone volcano, the first report of refugees were arriving via boat from the southern United States, who confirmed the eruption of the supervolcano and the ash cloud that was covering the western United States and northern Mexico under a foot of ash and soot.
