Sokka Irniq was an officer in the Rebel Alliance and formerly a conscript in the Galactic Empire. He was the son of Hakoda Irniq, a tribal leader and former Separatist soldier, and the brother of Katara Irniq, also a Rebel. He was born in 21 BBY on Algara VI, an ice planet. The Empire eventually found out about their father's service in the CIS and wanted to execute him, but the pair offered to serve the Empire in exchange for him being left alive. Sokka was drafted into the Imperial Army and became a corporal, while his sister worked as a nurse for the Empire.
