Johnathan "John" Winston Thomas Kyle was a Federation Starfleet officer, of British descent, on active duty in the 23rd century. Kyle had no canonical given name. In Starship Creator and many novels in the Pocket Books continuity, it is John, after the actor who played him. In Orion Press continuity, his full name is Jonathan Winston Kyle (nicknamed "Jon"). In FASA RPG continuity, it is Winston. In the continuity of DC Comics, it is Thomas. Kyle also served on Enterprise, after its refit, as chief maintenance officer for two years.
