Santa Monica High School was a secondary school located in Santa Monica, California. Kim Bauer attended Santa Monica High School from freshman to sophomore year. During her first year, she excelled academically and personally, maintaining a 4.0 GPA while taking part in numerous extracurricular activities including the Pep Club, Yearbook and Photography, and joining the girls' tennis, swimming, and volleyball teams. In her sophomore year, however, Kim's grades exhibited a sharp drop-off, and she dropped out of every extracurricular except the Chess Club and volleyball. She had six detentions on record and was in danger of failing her Algebra class.
