Thurdale was a young male hare, a nephew of Meldrum Fallowthorn the Magnificient and a brother of Coltvine, Runtwold and Foghill. He and his brothers were trained by their uncle Meldrum and formed a leveret squad. The squad helped rescue Mariel, Dandin, Bowly Pintips and Furpp Straightfurrer from Urgan Nagru's horderats in Castle Floret. When Meldrum was captured by the horderats and laid half unconscious in his cell, he bequeathed his mess jacket to Thurdale.
